AVE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Our Early childhood program utilizes a child-centered, inquiry-based approach to learning, the foundation of Ave International School.
Inquiry-based learning experiences are designed to capitalize on children’s natural tendencies to be curious and explore their interests within and beyond the classroom.
Research on cognitive development of a child states that students are curious, asking questions as active seekers of information; use their senses to gather information about their environment; sort, match, and classify objects quite naturally in their play; can make simple causal explanations of events using their personal knowledge, which also enables them to make predictions; make connections, talk about similarities, and draw conclusions; representing their ideas & solutions in many different ways.
An inquiry-based activity should draw on these characteristics, acknowledge a student’s interests and should involve materials that “provoke a sense of mystery and wonder so that children become curious about who they are, how the world works, where they come from, and how we express ourselves”.
In our classroom we intentionally observe and engage children in order to gain a deeper understanding of their interests & develop lifelong learners. The information that we gather provides the “spark” for classroom inquiry-based explorations.
Keeping children’s interest in mind, we purposefully co-planned authentic experiences from which they can create meaningful observations and engage in exploration. Exploration naturally leads to investigation. After the children’s interests have been identified through exploration, a planned investigation might be conducted to further their knowledge on this particular subject. The findings gathered from this investigation will be communicated through documentation, verbal discussions, and physical demonstrations.
We ensure that our pedagogical curriculum is followed by highlighting and incorporating expectations that naturally compliment the focus of inquiry. Sometimes this means bringing ideas back to the larger group for discussion or explicit instruction to help deepen our collective understanding and drive the project forward.
Ave International School offers a unique language immersion program, providing children the opportunity to build a foundation for bi-literacy in one of the three languages: Mandarin, Spanish or French.
The activities integrate content-focused early literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, and creative arts and a second language. Learning focuses on developing the ability to treat others with respect, cooperative learning from playing with others, and problem-solving in order to appropriately resolve conflicts.

EDUCATION
Ave International School aims to develop a high quality and challenging education program for a worldwide community. Our expertise in education allows us to choose what we strongly believe is the best for an international and global education, encouraging diversity and flexibility in teaching methods.
INQUIRY
Inquiry-based learning starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios—rather than simply presenting established facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge. The process is often assisted by a teacher as a facilitator/ mentor & provocateur.
EMPOWERMENT
We want our students to be curious, independent, and passionate thinkers and problem solvers by having opportunities of choice, reflection, students as teachers & teachers as students, continue self-evaluation, students voices are heard as much as teachers, we are all a community of learners.
OUR APPROACH

Hands-on
Children at AIS will gained by actually “doing” rather than only listening. Your child will be involving with all his / her senses allowing to learn actively & personally involved, motivated and engaged.

Nature-inspired
Nature play is important for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, families, staff, and communities. New research indicates that children who regularly play in nature are growing up healthy, smart, and happy. At AIS, have found ways to include nature in your child’s daily lives. Nature can be used to enhance your child’s development and learning.
SOURCE – RICHARD LOUV
“An environment-based education movement–at all levels of education–will help students realize that school isn’t supposed to be a polite form of incarceration, but a portal to the wider world.”

Project-based
The IB Primary Years Program (PYP), developed for learners age 3-12, is more than a philosophical approach to schooling. This comprehensive framework aims for a balance between five essential elements:
- Knowledge
- Skills
- Conceptual understanding of ideas
- Personal character attributes/attitudes
- Action as a result of learning
At AIS , we emphasize deep conceptual understanding. We seek to develop 21st century skills, in particular critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration. The program aims to students be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, open-minded, risk-takers and reflective.
The program places structured inquiry at the heart of the learning process. Successful inquiry leads to meaningful reflection and responsible action initiated by students as the result of their inquiry.
Student learning at AIS will be framed by a series of essential questions: Who we are ? Where are we in space and time? How do we express ourselves? How does the world works? How do we organize ourselves? How do we share the planet? These six units last all year long, and are a deep dive into the challenges of the real world.
Ave International School program is dedicated to lifelong learning, getting our students engaged in real world problems. Project Based Learning is a great way to deliver this challenge with experience-based, collaborative learning and action as the goal of each project.
